South Middle School is the largest middle school in Monongalia County, Morgantown, West Virginia.  We have a very diverse population of 750+ students grades six through eight with a faculty and staff of 90. 

Our school day begins as students arrive and head to homeroom before 7:40am.  There are eight 45 minute classes during the day with a 30 minute lunch for each grade level.  Students are dismissed with announcements at 2:37.

Lunch is served on the commons area by grade level.  Students have a choice of two entrees, with choice of sides and a salad bar.  Milk, juice, and water machines are also available.

South offers a rigorous academic curriculum including high school credit classes for advanced students in mathematics and foreign languages.  Our related arts program includes, but is not limited to, art, music, orchestra, band, jazz band, choir, keyboarding, family and consumer science, careers, health, and physical education.

Our sports programs include football, cross country, basketball, wrestling, track, cheerleading, and softball.

South students are very busy after school with Drama Club, Technology Student Association, Bible Club, Woodworking Club, Spanish Club, sports, and more.

South teachers integrate technology into the curriculum at every opportunity.  All  classrooms have computers, a laptop and projector.  Most classrooms are equipped with an interactive device and a document camera, as well.  We have four stationary computer labs, six mobile lab, five library computers, a video conferencing room, and several iPad classroom sets.
