Camp will offer an opportunity to interact with and be coached by the current MHS Coaching staff, players, and alumni. Participants will be introduced to speed & agility training, offensive, defensive, and special teams fundamentals. Players will be tested in combine drills and work on individual position drills, as well as participate in small group and team drills.
Instructions for our camp:
Check-ins will take place 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm; Camp starts at 5:30
Wear athletic clothes and tennis shoes or cleats

South Cross Country Flex Days
South is excited to welcome this year's volleyball coaches- familiar faces to our community! Heather Nestor will be leading our Varsity team, and Angel Conley will be heading up JV. Both bring energy and a deep connection to South.
Flex days will begin soon! Reminder: All athletes must have a physical dated after May 1, 2025, in hand to participate.

Ms. Nestor's class ended the year with a lab called "Let it Fly". Students researched, built and tested a paper airplane they designed.

Everyone had a great time at our PBIS Rewards today. Students purchased different levels of rewards with their PBIS Points. Everyone participated and had fun! Thank you to all our staff for making today such a wonderful, fun day!
Ms. Conley's 8th grade end of the year research/creation project. Students explored and researched a WV place of interest and built model of that location.
It's that time of year: The Toilet Paper Food Sculpture Challenge! Mrs. Bartholow's Crafts Class had to make realistic food out of toilet paper and paint. Pictured here are all of the finalists, the top three winners and the 3-way-tie sculptures for 4th place. Great job, everybody!

Mrs. Bartholow's 9th period Crafts Class got creative in the hallway with a masking tape mural. Like it says, "Good Things Happen Here!"
Mr. McIntyre's and Mrs. Blosser's Girl's STEM class completed a shark dissection after their unit studying sharks!

The “Get a Life” program was developed for the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office by Fairmont State University to teach students statewide about managing personal finances through a budget simulation. Students learn to make choices that will affect their financial future.
Participating students walk away with the skills to make better financial decisions. They also learn how higher education will help advance their career goals.
Congratulations Max Kirby for winning Honorable Mention in the state County Commissioners Association of WV Essay Competition. He will be awarded a $50 check at a future Monongalia County Commissioners meeting.

How long have you been at South?
This is my 18th year at South.
What is your favorite activity?
My favorite activity this year has been hosting grade-level lunch groups and a variety of clubs. It's been really rewarding to see students in a more informal setting.
Why did you pick this career?
I started my career as a teacher and realized that my true passion was in supporting students beyond the classroom. I wanted to create a safe space for students and help them not only succeed academically but also navigate their emotional and personal challenges. That's what led me to further my education and become a school counselor.

I am a school counselor.
How long have you been at South?
I have been a school counselor since 2012. I have been in Mon County for 10 years and at South Middle for four years.
What has been your favorite project or assignment you've worked on this year?
I have worked closely with the WV Public Education Collaborative this year. We keep improving the program as the year progresses. We have had guest speakers like Nick Malone, who received an invitation to Miami Dolphins rookie minicamp, and Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr, who won season 6 of America's Got Talent.
Why did you choose your career path?
To help kids find their voices, to learn that it's okay to be different, and to help them grow.
